Abstract

This issue of Applied Optics features 27 papers on topics related to optical propagation and scattering in the atmosphere and dense volume media and scattering from rough surfaces. The papers in this special issue are derived from presentations at the International Commission for Optics Topical Meeting on Atmospheric, Volume, and Surface Scattering and Propagation held in Florence, Italy, on 27–30 August 1991 as well as from other contributed papers on the subject areas covered by the meeting.
