Abstract

A simple method for obtaining a collimated near-unity aspect ratio output beam from laser sources with extremely large (> 100:1) aspect ratios is demonstrated by using a distributed-feedback grating-surface-emitting laser. Far-field power-in-the-bucket measurements of the laser indicate good beam quality with a high Strehl ratio.
