Abstract

A small cryogenic Fabry–Perot étalon was fabricated for the far-infrared region. This design used freestanding metal meshes for the reflecting elements. Using a combination of gold-coated copper mesh on stainless steel, we reproduced the spacing to 1 part in 106 with repeated cooling. The properties and methods used for alignment and calibration are presented.
