Infrared Transmission Through Fogged Salt Windows

Not Accessible

Your library or personal account may give you access

Abstract

Salt windows that become fogged by prolonged immersion in CCl4 saturated with water transmit infrared radiation in the 2.5–15 μ range without perceptible loss. It is, therefore, recommended that the drying of solutions that are to be examined by ir for trace components be avoided, because the possibility of loss of matter by adsorption on desiccant granules is a greater danger than the presence of traces of water.
