Abstract
Using the High Altitude Observatory’s recently completed 16-in. (41-cm) diam coronagraph in conjunction with a Perkin-Elmer Model 12C infrared spectrometer, observations of the radiation from the solar atmosphere have been made in the infrared region of the spectrum from 0.936 to 2.173 μ. Spectra were obtained using a DF-2 prism and PbS detector. Spectra from the solar atmosphere and photosphere are compared. Uncertainties in the spatial origin of these recorded spectra are discussed.
