Abstract

People in the creative professions seem to be most productive early in adulthood: Jane Austen wrote PRIDE AND PREJUDICE before she was twenty-one; Albert Einstein published his first theory of relativity when he was twenty-six. This short discussion of an endlessly fascinating subject is reprinted, by permission, from The Washington Post of 16 Apr. 1990.
