Effects of ion bombardment on the environmental durability of silver coatings

Abstract

The effects of ion assisted deposition on the environmental durability of silver coatings have been examined. Coatings were bombarded with 300-eV argon ions during deposition. Results indicate a significant improvement in the resistance to moisture correlated with the level of ion bombardment.
