Abstract

A statistical pattern recognition method, the subspace method, closely related to the principal component analysis was used in color recognition. It is shown that color spectra can be accurately reconstructed using a few principal spectra. Further, it is shown that our method is capable of discriminating samples which were inseparable using usual methods.
