Automatic Photoelectric Telescopes focus on nighttime sky

Abstract

Every clear night, three small telescopes atop Mount Hopkins, Ariz., swing into operation, make observations of designated stars and record the data. At dawn, the telescopes are stowed away. Remarkably, the entire observing session proceeds automatically, without any human intervention.
