Abstract

This paper reports on flow visualization experiments and velocity measurements by video recording and digital analysis of seed track images in an internal combustion engine cylinder flow. The illumination coding schemes and track analysis techniques that are used for the velocity measurements are presented and discussed. We demonstrate the utility of these techniques for detecting well-defined transient structures in unsteady flows.
