Beam expansion in linear constant period gratings

Abstract

In this paper, we have investigated the conditions under which a linear constant periodicity grating fabricated on a planar waveguide could behave as a beam expander. The effect of the waveguide and the grating parameters on the beam expander efficiency is illustrated.
