Abstract
A CO2-laser heterodyne system consisting of a CO2 TEA laser transmitter and a CO2 cw laser local oscillator with a fast data system is used to measure simultaneously range and velocity of solid targets. The basic properties of such a system and the accuracies for range measurements were investigated. Further, heterodyne experiments without oscillation of the pulses but with the full advantages of heterodyne detection were carried out.
