Design of a constant efficiency spectrometer for IR wavelengths

Abstract

The constant efficiency spectrometer, proposed by Maystre and Petit, was specialized to the infrared wavelength range (2.7–3.1 μm). Derivations of the equations to predict resolving power, to determine the setting corresponding to a given wavelength, and to predict distortion due to the optics are presented. The spectrometer is able to discriminate between all wavelengths produced by an HF laser providing the beam spot size on the grating covers at least 800 grooves. The measured efficiency is 62.5%.
