Abstract

A 5-J/pulse 1.8-μsec pulse width 10-Hz flashlamp-pumped tunable dye laser system has been built for performing spontaneous Raman scattering experiments in combusting media at the Combustion Research Facility, Sandia National Laboratories, Livermore. Details of construction, including a microprocessor-based diagnostic and control system, are described, and performance of the system in terms of various operating parameters is noted.
