Abstract

Two high-resolution spectrographs, running between 1.2 μ and 3 μ, are described. At 6000 cm−1 the resolving power attained is 0.09 cm−1 for the Czerny type and 0.06 cm−1 for the Fastie–Ebert type. These spectrographs are fitted with a calibration device which makes it possible to record simultaneously the studied absorption spectrum and the calibration interference peaks. The latter are produced by a Perot–Fabry etalon, the fringes of which, at infinity, are projected on the entrance slit of the spectrograph. They allow localization of the absorption lines relative to standard lines. A few results obtained with gaseous HI, NO, and N2O are listed.
