Limiting Parameters and Generalized Characteristics of Xenon Lamps

Abstract

The development of any optical pumping system depends on the knowledge of the possibilities of lamps offered for use. This paper contains generalized data on the maximum load of lamp seals and tube walls (both flash and continuous light), single-flash or repeated operation, at different cooling conditions. Voltage limits of these lamps and the dependence of their efficiency, radiance, and other characteristics on feeding parameters and construction are described. These generalized relations allow one to estimate easily the optical-pumping intensity for each given pumping-time schedule.
