Abstract

The following is the gist of a keynote address given in May 1976 by Laura P. Bautz of the National Science Foundation on the occasion of the Annual Engineering Open House for Women at Northwestern University. The audience was mainly high schoolers and their counsellors. The opinions are her own; she is not expressing NSF policy.
