Abstract
A commercial system based on holographic data storage for use in credit verification is described. The hologram reader is a low-cost compact unit with moderate storage capacity and search speeds. The recorder, which supplies update memories for readers in the field, records minute holograms interferometrically on a 35-mm film master at 15 holograms per sec. The film strips used in the readers are copies made on a high-speed duplicator. The technical problems associated with the production of the readers and update memories are discussed.
