Theoretical Analysis of a Rayleigh-Raman Polychromatic Laser Guide Star

Abstract

Laser beacons in present use for adaptive optics are insensitive to overall wavefront tilt because of unknown beam wander in the upward path. We show that tilt may be estimated with a polychromatic Rayleigh-Raman beacon.
