Abstract
Chalcogenide glass fiber tape has been fabricated from preforms for the first time to the authors’ knowledge. The tape thickness of around 300 microns with an aspect ratio of ~10:1, was produced by a double crucible technique. The fabrication and optical characteristics of meter long lengths of the fiber-tape are measured and discussed. Femtosecond pulsed laser written waveguides are also reported.
