Vibrational Coherence Spectroscopy of Biomimetic Molecular Switches

Abstract

C=C double-bond photoisomerization is investigated by impulsive vibrational spectroscopy using a 400-nm, 8-fs pump. A specific, very pronounced sub-100 cm−1 vibrational mode is observed only when the electronic population decay is faster than 300 fs.
