Abstract

Photonic nanowires exhibit broad regions of anomalous group-velocity dispersion and large effective nonlinearities allowing for efficient pulse self-compression. Experimentally, we demonstrate self-compression of 70-fs pulses to 6.8 fs. Simulations predict potential compression to near single-cycle durations.
