Characterization of Magnetization Dynamics using Terahertz Emission Spectroscopy

Abstract

THz pulse emission is used to study demagnetization dynamics in single crystal iron and polycrystalline nickel films of thickness from 5 to 60 nm. Bulk and surface contributions each play a role, and their origins are discussed.
