Gradient- and vortex-shaped fs pulses in air

Abstract

Femtosecond pulses exhibiting special distributions in space (sharp gradients, vortex shapes) are examined to monitor multiple filamentation in air. Ultrashort optical vortices are shown to propagate over hundreds of meters before breaking up into filaments.
