Abstract

Many conjugated organic chromophores with large first hyperpolarizabilities also exhibit strong two-photon-resonant hyper-Raman scattering. The hyper-Raman spectra, excitation profiles, and depolarization ratios provide structural and energetic information about overlapping electronic transitions in these molecules.
