Ultra-wide bandwidth terahertz emission from a semiconductor irradiated with intense, radially polarized, Bessel-Gauss pulses

Abstract

Terahertz generation from a radially-polarized Bessel-Gauss pulse focused onto a semiconductor is investigated. Current densities (1011 A/m2) exceeding those in typical photoconductive emitters and broadband (≥25 THz) emission result from strong ponderomotive and electrostatic screening.
