Abstract

We analyze physical effects governing the carrier-envelope offset (CEO) dynamics of femtosecond mode-locked lasers. The insight on the underlying mechanisms enabled us to phaselock the carrier-envelope offset (CEO) frequency of our laser to an RF reference oscillator with an unprecedented 20 mrad rms phase jitter (0.01 Hz - 10kHz bandwidth).
