Ultrafast dynamics in DNA

Abstract

A DNA base pair has been replaced by a coumarin, and the DNA’s “solvation” dynamics monitored by time-resolved Stokes shift measurements. The shift is logarithmic in time, indicating an extremely broad distribution of relaxation times.
