Abstract

Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy is applied to examine the nature and dynamics of photo-generated carriers in non-polar liquids and insulating solids. The experimental results yield the complex conductivity of the material and its temporal evolution. From these data, carrier concentrations, scattering times, and dynamics are inferred.
