Abstract

A number of optical switching and logic devices have been proposed and demonstrated. Some of the more popular devices include the optical Kerr gate, the nonlinear bistable Fabry-Perot etalon, the nonlinear directional coupler (NLDC), and the nonlinear Mach-Zehnder interferometer (NLMZI) and related fiber-based nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM).
