Discrimination of Healthy Skin and Cutaneous Malignant Lesions using FTIR Spectra and their Second Derivatives: A Comparative Study

Abstract

PC-LDA statistical method was used to differentiate cutaneous tumor tissue from healthy skin. Discrimination accuracy obtained by raw FTIR spectra was 95% and by second derivatives 92%, besides identifying secondary structure of proteins and collagen.
