Relationship Between Cerebral Cytochrome-C-Oxidase and Oxygenation is Associated with Brain Injury Severity in Birth Asphyxiated Infants

Abstract

Broadband NIRS was used to monitor neonates with hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy during the first days of life. A high correlation between cerebral metabolism and oxygenation during spontaneous hypoxias was significantly associated with more severe injury.
