Abstract

In this set of activities, we measured the dimensions of different objects using Image J and a CCD camera. We first used the CCD camera to take pictures of different objects’ images. We then used ImageJ to measure the lengths of the pattern. After this step, we could calculate the dimensions of the objects. In this lab, we measured the diameter of a pinhole, slit width and slit separation of double and multiple slits, the width of a single slit and the width and length of a rectangular strip We also verified that the fine details in the image are determined by the overall shape of the object and the overall shape of the image is determined by the fine details in the object. We suggest that it would improve the accuracy of the lab if the intensity of each point of the image can be recorded and compared.
