Temperature-compensated FBG-based 3D shape sensor using single-mode fibers

Abstract

We report a temperature-compensated FBG-based 3D shape sensor with an average positioning error of 1.4 %. The sensor consists of three single-mode fibers with four arrays of FBGs, which are glued on a substrate.
