High-Q Metamaterial Mid-IR Emitter on a Membrane Heater for Gas Sensing Applications

Abstract

We demonstrate mid-infrared, narrow-band thermal emission from a CMOS-compatible metamaterial perfect emitter integrated into a CMOS membrane heater with record-high quality factors up to 17 and emissivity values beyond 98 %.
