Stimulated Forward Brillouin Scattering in Photonic Bandgap Fiber

Abstract

Stimulated forward Brillouin scattering is observed in photonic bandgap fiber with a hollow core. Several acoustic resonances are identified from 0–100 MHz. The resonance quality-factor is enhanced when the air is evacuated from the fiber.
