Lateral Force Sensor Based on a Photonic Crystal Fiber Mode Interferometer

Abstract

A highly-sensitive fiber optic lateral force sensor is introduced. The device is based on a mode interferometer consisting of a short section of photonic crystal fiber fusion spliced to standard single-mode optical fiber.
