Fiber Optic Distributed Sensing with Active Self-heating

Abstract

We report distributed sensing with active control using self-heated optical fibers. The heat loss profile along the fiber is spatially interrogated with Rayleigh backscattering to perform gas flow, liquid level and hydrogen gas leakage measurements.
