Gradient-based optical flow techniques for tracking image motion due to atmospheric turbulence

Abstract

Gradient-based optical-flow techniques can be used to track image motion from atmospheric turbulence, with similar accuracy to correlation-based methods. Application to astronomical and horizontal image sequences are presented. Error analysis and limitations are discussed.
