Study of Minimum Mean Square Error Optimal Equalizers for 50Gbit/s High Speed Passive Optical Networks

Abstract

We evaluated here the positive impact of MMSE equalizers on 50Gbit/s HS-PONs. Thanks to numerical simulations, we show that MMSE-LE and DFE allows to reach appreciable optical budget of 29dB for pre-FEC BER of 102.
