Abstract

Effects of lead-frames and packaging-styles on LED's light-extraction-efficiency (LEE) have been studied. Results revealed a transparent lead-frame can increase LED's LEE significantly. At a low current density range, LED efficiency is not affected by Ohmic heating. Effect of index of silicone in a layered encapsulation structure on LEE of LEDs is also studied.
