Non-invasive Excitation of Meter-scale Electric Discharges in Gas-filled Hollow-core Photonic Crystal Fibers

Abstract

We introduce a novel non-invasive approach to excite electric gas discharges in hollow-core photonic crystal fibers based on external high voltage radio frequency excitation. We observe meter-scale plasma columns in neon and xenon mixed with helium.
