Precision Mapping of Ions in Active RE-doped Crystalline Fibers

Abstract

Florescence images of Er:YAG fibers have been used to map dopant ions over their cross sections. Evidence is presented of controlled melting of rod-in-tube preforms with residual high index cores at high growth rates.
