Understanding Propagation Loss in Slow Light Waveguides

Abstract

Engineering dispersion and loss in photonic crystal waveguides allows us to control propagation up to moderate group indices. Novel results on 'overengineered' waveguides give insights into loss vs. both propagation constant and group index.
