Abstract

Systematic design rules for finite-size coupled-resonator-optical-waveguides (CROWs) are developed using direct correspondence to ladder-type LC circuits. Silicon-on-insulator (SOI) CROWs with flat-band spectrum, excellent group-delay response, and compact size are experimentally demonstrated. Sensitivity analysis attributes residual spectral distortions to non-ideal fabrication rather than coupling –induced-frequency-shifts (CIFS).
