Tailoring the group velocity in photonic crystal waveguides

Abstract

A silicon-on-insulator photonic crystal waveguide is tailored to obtain a ~20-nm lowloss bandwidth with low group-index dispersion and group velocity around c/20. This is obtained by perturbing the holes adjacent to the waveguide core.
