Magneto-Optical Switch Based on Ultrahigh-Contrast Electromagnetically Induced Absorption in a Cesium Vapor Cell

Abstract

A Cs vapor cell is studied under two counter-propagating light beams. The probe-wave transmission represents just a single subnatural-linewidth electromagnetically induced absorption resonance without any pedestal. The proposed scheme serves as an efficient optical switch.
