Quantum repeaters based on two species trapped ions

Abstract

We consider two species trapped ions as building blocks of large-scale quantum repeaters across trans-continental distances. Key generation rate dependence on experimental gate error rates, operation time and coupling efficiency to a fiber is discussed.
