Free-space optical communication with a photon-number-resolving detector

Abstract

We demonstrate a free-space optical communication system with a photon-number-resolving (PNR) detector involving a spatially multi-plexed device of 4 single-photon counting modules to improve the accuracy of transmission and increase the data rate in daylight.
