Beating Rayleigh’s criterion: Superresolution of thermal sources with linear optics

Abstract

We obtain the quantum Cramér-Rao bound for estimating the transverse separation between two thermal point sources of any intensity using a given imaging system. Two linear optics schemes that approach it are also proposed.
